Taut and steely, this complex young chardonnay has a delicate, restrained bouquet of white peach, grapefruit, fresh vanilla oak backed by nuances of cloves, cinnamon and lime juice. ItÕs long and elegant, with a fine, pithy palate whose fresh, translucent grapefruit, lemon rind and melon flavours have a crystalline aspect. Underpinned by a fine chalkiness, it finishes with freshness, length and a lingering mineral note. Very stylish and drinkable.
A taut, fine-grained and tightly focused chardonnay whose pristine pear, peach and ruby grapefruit flavours knit tightly with fresh vanilla oak and are tightly wrapped around a lemony acidity. Underpinned by fresh creamy complexity and nougat-like notes, itÕs underpinned by a fine chalkiness and extends long and persistent with a fine line of translucent fruit.
Long and superbly shaped, with a complex, smoky bouquet of grapefruit, peach and melon underpinned by notes of coriander, lemon and reductive suggestions of minerals and ham hock. ItÕs round and generous, with a rich core of fruit and matchstick oak extending long and savoury over a fine, crunchy texture towards a finish of focus and drive. Wrapped in a refreshing acidity, itÕs artfully balanced and complete.
Slatey and shapely; waxy grapefruit blossom, melon and stonefruit over notes of coriander and creamy vanilla oak over a saline backbone, finishing brittle and briny.
A superlative chardonnay whose smoky bouquet of grapefruit, melon, lime and white peach reveals nuances of coriander, popcorn, tight-grained oak, oyster shell and a hint of bath salt. Supremely long and complete, with a plush, juicy core of fruit, it eases long and shapely down a fine, mineral spine towards a refreshing, savoury and saline finish of tightly focused citrusy acidity. A true benchmark wine of world class.
A beautifully crafted, mineral and schisty chardonnay whose alluring fragrance of apple skin, grapefruit, oyster shell and coriander reveal undertones of schist and brine. It’s medium in weight, reserved and focused, with some forward plumpness and very pleasing length, finishing with a lemony freshness a faint and brittleness plus a chalky mineral note. Wonderfully balanced, generous and strident in the purity of its fruit expression, it’s fresh, tangy and saline to finish. It just lacks the exceptional length of the greatest vintages.
